Jadav Raos

Jadav Rao Rajputs

The Jagir of Ghantiyali was established in the 12th century. The Yaduvanshi chieftains of Ghantiyali were granted a fiefdom of 12 villages (Ghantiyali, Lodrani, Kasvi, etc.) and the title of Rao. Out of these 12 villages, 5 are currently in Pakistan, while Ghantiyali, Kasvi, and Lodrani are in Gujarat. The chieftains of Ghantiyali trace their ancestry from the Yaduvansh lineage, which is why their clan is Jadav/Yadav (a variation of Jadav/Yadav, such as Jadaun, who are descendants of Lord Krishna).

In the Yaduvansh lineage, Raja Gaj, the 85th descendant of Lord Krishna, ruled over the region of present-day Afghanistan, Pamir, and Pakhtunkhwa. This King Gaj is believed to have founded the city of Ghazni (Afghanistan). Though historians argue that the Ghazni of Raja Gaj could be to the east near modern day Peshawar (Pakistan). The chieftains of Ghantiyali trace their origin to this Raja Gaj. (The descendants of this Raja Gaj include the Bhati of Jaisalmer and the Jadeja of Jamnagar.) Rishi gotra of Jadav Rao Rajputs is Atri, and their clan deity is Brahmani (Goddess Anusuya). This same goddess is enshrined as Harsiddhi (fulfiller of Lord Hari’s wishes) in Dwarka as the clan deity of Lord Krishna, and there is a temple of Ghantiyali Devi in the Jaisalmer Fort.
